Should Rohit Sharma open in India vs Australia 1st Test after Prithvi Shaw's ankle injury

India’s tour of Australia started with a three-match T20I series and now the tour will witness the four-match test series that will start from December 6 in Adelaide.

Ahead of the four-match Test series, Team India is playing a 4-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI at Sydney and a bad news hit team India. Prithvi Shaw who is going to open for India in the tests twisted his left ankle which led to him ruling out from the first test.

Prithvi Shaw was in a great form as during the second day of the practice match he slammed a half-century against Cricket Australia XI. He also had an impressive debut against West Indies during the previous series.

The young player scored 66 runs off 69 balls. He hit eleven boundaries and helped India to score a total of 358 runs. Prithvi Shaw scans revealed a lateral ligament injury and he will undergo an "intensive rehabilitation program" to return soon.

Now after the Prithvi Shaw injury who has been in fine form with the bat, the question arises who should open for India in the first test. However, fans have backed Rohit Sharma to stand up in Prithvi Shaw's absence and open in the first Test.

Rohit Sharma captained India in Asia Cup 2018 led the team to its seventh title. In the Windies tour of India, Rohit finished as the second highest run-getter in ODIs with 389 runs in five games. In the 4-day practice game against Cricket Australia XI, he scored 40 of 55 deliveries at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
