Prithvi Shaw’s Test Debut and his meeting with his idol Sachin Tendulkar



Prithvi Shaw is often called as the next Sachin Tendulkar of Indian cricket. He became an overnight sensation after performing best in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies.


On his test debut, 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw hit a maiden century. Prithvi Shaw scored a 134-run knock on his Test debut, becoming the youngest Indian to score a century on debut. He also became India's second youngest century-scorer after Tendulkar, who in 1990 was 17 years when he scored 119 not out against in England in Manchester.

Watching how Prithvi Shaw playing style, India Team coach Ravi Shastri said that the Prithvi Shaw is born to play cricket. He has been playing in the maidens of Mumbai when he was 8 years old. One can see the hard work of Prithvi. He's a spectator's delight.

Shastri said, “There's a bit of Sachin there, a bit of Viru in him and when he walks - there's a bit of Lara as well,". Thus comparing him with Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Brian Lara while trying to describe the 18-year-old.

The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was left in awe with the fearless effort put on by Prithvi Shaw on his debut innings. For his dreamlike performance in test debut in Rajkot, Sachin Tendulkar congratulated him. Sachin said he had predicted Shaw future 10 years back.

Sachin said that 10 years ago, one of his friends asked him to take a look at a young Prithvi. He asked him to analyze his game and see if there is anything he could work on. Sachin had a session with him and gave a couple of pointers to Prithvi on how to improve his game. Sachin told his friend later that Prithvi is going to go on and play for India.


Recently Prithvi Shaw met his idol Sachin Tendulkar with whom he has been compared to on many occasions. Prithvi had posted a picture on Instagram and Twitter with the Sachin Tendulkar, popularly known as the God of Indian Cricket. The caption read as "SIR❤ #idol #respect,". Prithvi Shaw is very happy after meeting his idol, Sachin Tendulkar.
