IPL 2019: Shikhar Dhawan to join Kings XI Punjab

In the upcoming 12th Edition of Indian Premier League that will be held from 29 March to 19 May 2019, Shikhar Dhawan is expected to move to Kings XI Punjab for the Indian Premier League 2019.

Shikhar Dhawan is a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad who bought him for an amount of Rs 5.2 Crore. As per Reports, it seems that Dhawan’s salary is being doubled at Kings XI Punjab.

Karun Nair, who was bought by Kings XI Punjab for an amount of Rs 5.6 Crore couldn’t perform to the expectations last season. So Dhawan is likely to swap places with Karun Nair.

The report of Shikhar Dhawan’s move to Kings XI Punjab is surprising as The Mumbai Mirror reported that the Dhawan is unhappy with the 2016 IPL champions and he could be moving to the Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season.

Dhawan’s move to Mumbai Indians could be pleasing for Indian fans as Shikhar Dhawan will open the innings with Rohit Sharma and their partnership is at the top level. But if Dhawan moves to Kings XI Punjab, he will be opening the innings with KL Rahul who was bought by the KXIP for Rs 11 Crore.

The official announcement for Shikhar Dhawan’s move is yet to be made as soon as the transfer window will end in a few weeks.

Mumbai Indians have already added Quinton de Kock who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians have also released Mustafizur Rahman and Akila Dananjaya ahead of the auction for the next season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad could possibly release Manish Pandey as batsman failed to do justice with the amount of Rs.11 Crore for which he was bought by the franchise. Rajasthan Royals could release Jaydev Unadkat, who was bought for Rs 11.5 Crore as he just managed to take 11 wickets in IPL 2018.

As per reports, the auction for the upcoming season will take place in Goa instead of Bangalore on December 16. Other teams are also expected to come up with lists of released or transferred players.
